Smoking Flame Marker

This is just a quick concept post for a project I'm working on.  A bunch of these will be coming off the laser cutter soon.

Realm of Battle Board, Part 2

Ah, at long last, the Realm of Battle board is base-coated and ready for some tender airbrushing.  After an abortive attempt to paint what used to be a black RoB board tan with a detail airbrush I quickly became frustrated with the ordeal.  Luckily, a previous project left me with a small can of tan latex room paint.  A trip to Harbor Freight Tools and one 20% off coupon later, I had myself a spray gun that could handle the job.

All six of the tiles were repainted with the latex paint, mixed to match The Army Painter's Desert Yellow color (or close enough to it).  After about three hours with the spray gun, I can taste the latex stuck in the back of my throat.  I'll be coughing up ocher phlegm for a week, but this is what I get for my belief that respirators are for pansies.

Death Korps Quartermaster

Rather than doing the wise thing and putting my tax return into savings, I used the magic of the internet to turn my money into finely sculpted resin.  One of a number of models I bought recently, here's my completed Death Korps of Kreig Quartermaster.  This is the Forge World Games Day exclusive version.

Painting this guy up was a blast.  There's plenty of intricate detail that can really be brought out with a bit of effort.

Given his rank and role, I gave the Quartermaster a cloak that speaks to more than just utility.  Is it standard issue or did he find a nice trophy on the battlefield and keep it?  Who can say?

A piece of parchment is lashed to his cloak, bound with totems.  These were also fun to paint.  Picking out all of the smaller details can be a chore, but seeing them pop out against the dullness of the rest of the uniform made the effort worthwhile.  I went with gold as it stands out against the brown and tan without overwhelming the model.  The same is true of the deep red on the cloak.  After a brown wash, the colors deepen and dull, bringing everything together.

More to come, so stay tuned!

Tau Farsight Enclave Army, Part 2

First thing on the iteniary is building a Kill Team to take advantage of the new rules put out by Games Workshop last month.  So far, the rules look like a ton of fun and I'm really looking forward to getting a game in.

After painting up a couple of drones in test schemes, I've gotten my first Crisis Suit done.

Tau Farsight Enclave Army, Part 1

Preparations are being made for a Death Korps of Krieg army, but in the meantime, I'd still like to play the game.  Especially with all of the new and exciting supplements and expansions.  To that end, I've started working on a Tau Farsight Enclave army.  The Tau Empire is a pretty popular army right now, so to set my army apart, I did a ton of conversion work on the Crisis Suits and did a test conversion for a shield drone.

And the shield drone:
