Quick update on the Raven Guard Cataphractii terminators for my counts-as Dark Angels Deathwing army. I managed to finish up the first squad of 10 terminators. Well, almost finish. I have one model that belongs in the squad with a magnetized left arm so he can take either a power fist or power sword. That way I can run 4 squads of 5 or 2 squads of 10 (or even 1 squad of 10 and 2 squads of 5!) at 1500 points along with my command squad.
Here's a shot from my phone of what I've gotten done so far. The fancy-pants guy out front is my Belial counts-as. I'll be posting about him shortly.
For those of you who are curious about what my 1500 point list looks like, here's what I came up with. Points costs are ommitted so I don't get pegged by GW legal.
I haven't been posting lately, and there's a reason for that, which I'll explain after some news.
Scott, who some of you know from the Table Top Generals podcast, has recently decided that his life's ambition is to Kickstart every board game and miniature battle game he can find. So far, he's bought into Sedition Wars and got a ton of neat stuff for throwing in on the project. He's also convinced me to buy into Rivet Wars with him. I'm curious to see what he sees fit to throw his money at next, but at least it'll be interesting and hopefully a lot of fun.
With all these board games going into production and arriving in the mail in the next handful of weeks, we'll have fresh topics of conversation for the podcast, which will be getting restarted shortly, hopefully before February. One of the things we'd like to try is playing a game while recording and talking about our experiences during and after. To do that, we've talked about changing our format to a two-plus-hour affair, every other week. What do you guys think about it? Let us know below.
In Warhammer 40,000 news, the new Dark Angels codex is awesome. So far, I'm liking where they're going with the format and style of the new codices. After a read-through, I can say that the Dark Angels codex is, in my opinion, more powerful than the Chaos Space Marines codex, but I attribute that to the CSM 'dex being the first of the new addition. Those of you who play or used to play a vanilla Space Marine army probably noticed that in the last edition.
The 6th edition codices also seem to be balanced against the 6th edition rules and not the preceding codex, which I think will help to make "Codex Creep" less of a blatant, glaring issue. Only time will tell on this one, but I certainly hope this is the case.
The time stamp on my second-most-recent entry to this blog is for November of last year. Just before that post went up, I lost my job. I'm now just back on my feet, thank God, and have been very busy adjusting to a new job, getting ahead of bills, saving money and generally getting back into the swing of things after being unemployed for two months and have been super busy.
Obviously, I could have taken my mind off of interviewing and driving around like a mad person looking for work by working on hobby stuff, but you know how it is. You get depressed and don't want to do anything and that's where I was over the holiday season.
Thankfully, that's all past me now.
Taking a look at the number of followers I had in November versus the number of followers I have now, the thought occurs that I should just take long hiatuses as often as possible, just to see if the number of people who subscribe to the blog jumps every time I do. No, I won't do that, but it is kind of a funny thought, and I sincerely thank everyone who is subscribed to the blog and I also sincerely hope that you find my blog entertaining.
Also, LEAVE FEEDBACK IN THE COMMENTS SECTION! Let me know what you guys want to see me work on, what you like!
I have a ton of stuff to work on right now and plenty of projects planned for the rest of the year, so be sure to stay tuned.
Back in the saddle after a long break, dear readers, this is Jordan with a series of updates and news. For those of you interested in my personal affairs, I'll have an explanation later on in the week.
Stop right there, criminal scum!
I got my hands on a squad of the new Forge World Cataphractii terminators a little while ago and decided that it would be great start to a counts-as Deathwing army. I'm really not a fan of the Dark Angels, but there's no rule against using their codex for a Space Marine Legion that I actually like.

These happy chaps got finished before the new Dark Angels codex came out, so I built them like a regular Codex: Space Marines terminator squad with an Autocannon (counts as Assault Cannon). After grabbing my copy of the codex on release day, I perused through and checked out the great options Deathwing terminators have access to.
After coming up with pretty basic 1,500- and 1,000-point lists, I'm still not entirely sure how to go about arming them. What do you guys think? I've always liked Assault Cannons, they now cost 5 fewer points than a Cyclone Missile Launcher, and I have a great looking Autocannon to use as a counts-as model!
Is that Twin Linked or are you just happy to see me?
Building a list, I'm trying to stay as mono-wing as possible. In both of the lists I mentioned above, I have at least one Land Speeder. I found a nifty pre-Heresy conversion over at Bolter and Chainsword that I do believe I'll be using if I decide that I need it in the list. The best part is that I have a bunch of Mk.III armor sets sitting on my work table that I can use as crew for the Speeder.
The post about how the models put together will come with the next squad, but as you can see, you can get some pretty dynamic poses out of the kit if you use your imagination and scalding hot water.
That's about all I've got on my mind for now as far as building a usable Deathwing list is concerned. I'll post more about the models themselves as the weeks roll on, so be sure to stay tuned. I'm still working my way up to a 1500-point Imperial Guard list (which I still have yet to even photograph) and I've made a bit of progress on my Fortress of Redemption. I'm going to try to finish up both of those things before I get too far down the rabbit hole on this one.
Anyway, it's great to be back. Take care and enjoy your games!
