I Need an Excuse to Make a Set of Imperial Fortress Walls

This thing: Forge Word's Imperial Fortress.  This, to me, would be an excellent use of the laser cutter and one hell of a project.  Problem is my house looks like little more than storage space with a bed at this point (though I am cleaning up, albeit slowly) and the Walls are probably something I would never use myself, so If anyone knows of an event that wants a Fortress Wall set for a mega battle or event, let me know and I can make one.

Radar Dish Mk2

Very much WIP.  More to come as I tune the design.

More Laser Cut Stuff

UPDATE:  Finished the base and snapped another photo.

This one turned out pretty well, I just need to tweak some things and experiment a little bit more with the process.  Right now, my biggest issue is reducing burn marks and bubbling in the acrylic.  Next month, I'll probably try out some 1mm and 2mm Sintra.

It's a missile pod on an armature.  Kind of difficult to tell with the clear plastic
and burn marks.  The Techpriest oversees final construction.

Side view.  The pod rotates up and down.

That's it for now, more to come in short order.

It Lives!

This is the first thing I ended up doing with the laser cutter.  A cheesy little radar antenna that stands about 3' tall.  It took some experimentation to get all of the concepts involved just right (hole vs plug size for articulation, tolerances, how much material gets burned away, etc).  I'm still experimenting with total burn times so all of the pieces stay attached to the piece of MDF and can just be poked out without too much sanding or trimming away excess, but that will have to wait until I can get all the smoke out of my work room!

So This Is What I've Been Doing

Yup, bought me a laser cutter.  I've been so busy just trying to get it working properly, I haven't really had the opportunity to share what I've been up to otherwise.  More to come about this and other projects.
