Inquisitor in Terminator Armor Concept Art

This may end up being a model, it may not.  For now, here's a rough concept sketch of an Inquisitor that might or might not end up in a friend's Grey Knight army, the existence of which I can neither confirm nor deny.

All the best,

WIP Hydra Turret

Greetings once again, my dear blog followers.  For right now, I'm working on an Imperial Guard Hydra turret that's being built to be cast in resin.  Included here are some WIP shots of the completed turret before I cover it in silicone and put it under sixty PSI.

Best option, in my opinion for attaching templates to plasticard; rubber cement!  I'll upload the template when I'm satisfied with the results and clean it up a bit.  As you can see, it's a jumbled disaster.  I also need to design and add the section that actually attaches to the chimera hull to the template.  All in due time!

WIP shot of the main body of the turret.  A punch and die set is your friend if you plan on doing scratch building with any regularity.

A rough shot of the rear of the turret, featuring what I imagine is an ammo hopper.  At this stage, much of the model needs to be filed flush with the remaining parts and smoothed so it looks like a coherent piece.  Gaps will also be filled.

Lastly, a shot of the turret and the lone gun that will be copied multiple times over, along with some PIP Death Korps Engineers, featured last week.  That ring on the side of the turret is where a half-inch magnet will go on the cast piece and will support the Hydra Autocannons.

That's all for today, folks.  If you have any questions or comments, don't hold back and post them below.

Enjoy the game,

Death Korps of Krieg, Incoming!

Death Korps Engineer

Despite working like a dog recently and not having terribly much time to do so, I've actually gotten quite a lot of hobbying done.  Displayed for you, dear readers, is the first of four Death Korps Engineer squads for my 1,000 point Imperial Guard army.

The entire squad.  Click for a larger image.

I find that unless I post a picture as the first part of the blog post, no image shows up on the "Blogs I'm Following" widget via Blogger.

Engineer Sergeant

A red stripe was added to his right shoulder pad to indicate that he's running the show.  Knowing which guy is in charge has become more important than ever in Warhammer 40,000's 6th edition.  Otherwise, he's identical to the rest of his squad-mates.

Heavy Flamer

Heavy flamers are always a great asset to Imperial Guard Veteran squads, and the heavy flamer bit comes from the Death Korps Grenadier heavy flamer team kit.  These may end up getting dropped from one or two squads in favor of triple plasma guns, though.  Gotta love those new Rapid Fire rules and all five of those fire points on a Chimera!

Meltagunner

The ubiquitous meltagun.  I decided to take off the strap that came with each of these weapons.  None of them went on quite right.  Before I add my first coat of gloss varnish, I'll probably re-wash the barrel of the weapon with The Army Painter's Dark Tone ink (which is amazing, by the way).

Well, that's all for now.  I'm happy I finally got my photo set-up working again and can take pictures worth posting!  Happy hobbying, folks, and enjoy your game.

Avenger Strike Fighter 99% Complete

At this point, I'd be perfectly comfortable calling this model finished, but I've still got a bit more work left on it.  I plan to add some water-slide decals, then do a tiny bit of weathering over that.

The paint job is pretty darn simple overall.  I also had the opportunity to use some weathering powders from Vallejo, which when used in a similar fashion to drybrushing, add a very impressive carbon scoring effect.  Though I may have gone overboard on this one.  I'll leave that to you.

Stay tuned, I'll have a long blog post about building and painting this guy next Monday, along with the Table Top Generals podcast available at the podcast's website (here: ttgpodcast.podbean.com/), then Tuesday on iTunes.

Enjoy your games, guys,
